Garden Route and Addo National Park
Garden Route and Addo NAtional Park, the ultimate highlight of Western Cape short holiday stay. From the City of Cape Town you drive straight up Tsitsikama. Have a day of fun in Tsitsikama national park and the Tsitsikama bridge activities. The next 2 days is Safari in the Addo national park. The Addo has the big 5 game, lots of antelopes and more than 350 species of birds. From Addo NP to Oudtshoorn, once the capital of ostrich farming in the World, but you also have a stop in the surfing City of Jeffrey’s Bay. Through the Karoo to Paarl via Ronnies Sex Shop and back to Cape Town.
Garden Route and Addo National Park
The Garden route is a perfect escape for adventure from scuba diving, abseiling, fishing and more. In ‘Plett’ there is the famous ocean safari, a search for sea mammals including the dolphins, whales and sharks. Tsitsikama national park combines the marine and land attractions abundant birdlife.
Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of the world. The world’s biggest bird has it’s perfect home here. It is also the gate way to the Cango caves, a series of caverns and chambers naturally hewn out of limestone just 40km from Oudtshoorn. The Cango caves are among the top ten most visited places in South Africa.
Addo National Park
Garden Route further stretches on the southern coast from Heidelberg to the Storms River. The coastline is dotted with beaches and bays and vividly coloured wild flowers as the mountains overlook the shores.
Addo elephant national park on the other side is just 70km from Port Elizabeth town located on 120 000 ha of land of thick bushveld of the Sunday River. It was established in 1931 to serve 4 elephants that were at the brink of extinction. Now it boast of 350 elephants, cape buffaloes, black rhino and a few antelopes.
As you drive back to Cape Town further inland is the Greater karoo. A semi arid valley providing the ideal habitat for ostriches farmed here.
Itinerary
Today you meet and greet with your Guide in Cape Town for a briefing of how the Tour will be run. You drive up to Tsitsikama through Hermanus the famous whale watching Town, Wildeness, Kynsna Waterfront and Pletternberg. In Tsitsikama you have a day of activities in the national park and at the bridge.

Arriving in the afternoon at Addo national park you have an afternoon game drive that takes you through to sunset. The next day its all day safari from morning until sunset.
Addo.
It’s the 3rd biggest national park in South Africa and 1 640 ha in size. To this size there is more than 600 elephants, 400 Cape buffalo, red hartebeest, kudus , a few cats (lions and leopards included), black and white rhinoceros and many birds. The largest population of the flightless dung beetles is also found in Addo (drive with extreme care) as well as tortoise, hippos and much more.
By expansion you will be able to watch the whales and the great white shark, the penguins and gannets.

Back to Tsitsikama today with a stop at Jeffreys Bay for surfing or optional Ocean Safari. After the day activities at Jeffreys Bay you drive to your accommodation in Tsitsikama.

The drive to Oudsthoorn is very scenic one through the mountains overlooking the ocean and the valleys past small towns and villages in the Karoo. The castles and big houses in the region are evidence of what once was the biggest economy in South Africa and the World ie The Ostrich Farming that would collapse due to the Great depression.
Oudsthoorn today and the region of the karoo still has the largest population of ostrich in the World.

The drive through the Karoo will be quite impressive. Its the contrast of the evergreen Garden Route and the coast to the dry and rocky but valley separated by high mountains on one side and open fields on the other. The tour ends with wine tasting at Fairview Farm just outside Paarl before you drop in Cape Town
